Our I. PKO Praha members Leszek Naziemiec, Lukasz Tkacz, Marek Grzywa, Kinga Korin, Mariusz Lebioda and Artur Kubica successfully took to the cold Norwegian waters. It was a successful expedition, and the Ice Mile completions listed below are particularly significant sporting achievements.
Below is our account, translated from an article published by the International Ice Swimming Association: North Most Ice Mile record.
A Polish expedition travelled to Arctic waters to swim a Polar Ice Mile.
A group of Polish winter swimmers from Katowice, led by Leszek Naziemiec, president of IISA Poland, achieved an extraordinary feat: the northernmost Ice Mile, in Norway’s Svalbard archipelago at 78.3 degrees north, close to the North Pole.
A small yacht, under experienced captain Jerzy Rozanski and with Dr Michal Staroloski overseeing the swimmers, took the expedition into a glacial fjord. Four swimmers, including IISA’s founder and chairman, completed an Ice Mile.

Seven swimmers in total entered the icy water:
| 1. | Leszek Naziemiec | 1660 m | 2nd Ice Mile |
| 2. | Lukasz Tkacz | 1852 m | 2nd Ice Mile |
| 3. | Marek Grzywa | 1640 m | 2nd Ice Mile |
| 4. | Ram Barkai | 1660 m | 11th Ice Mile |
| 5. | Kinga Korin | 1090 m | |
| 6. | Mariusz Lebioda | 550 m | |
| 7. | Artur Kubica | 200 m |
Well done!
Stay safe, and see you by the water!
