I. plavecký klub otužilců Praha warmly invites you to the 66th Alfred Nikodem Memorial, our Christmas swimming competition in the Vltava.
The oldest and best-known cold-water swimming event takes place on Wednesday 26 December 2012, St Stephen’s Day, at 11:00 in the Vltava beside Prague’s National Theatre.
Swimmers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, England and Germany will take part. The course crosses the Vltava between Střelecký and Slovanský islands, starting and finishing beside Slovanský Island.
This year’s event carries the “BEZ MEDU TO NEJDE” (“You can’t do without honey”) theme, a campaign funded by the Czech Beekeepers’ Association, the European Union and the Czech Republic. Honey is an excellent source of quick energy, and warm tea with honey is an ideal drink for winter swimmers.
The event is supported by SUPTel a.s., BYTOSTAV s.r.o., Prague City Hall and our co-organiser, the Prague 1 district.
For the first time, the programme includes the Prague 1 Mayor’s Cup, awarded to the team formed by each participating club’s three best-placed swimmers.
Further information, particularly for competitors, is in the event regulations:
