The public holiday brought another winter swimming meet, this time at Čehovice Pond, with courses from 100 metres to one kilometre. Twenty-three PKO swimmers attended. The enthusiastic organisers provided a wonderful atmosphere and very honestly measured courses — some swimmers missed the 22-minute limit despite their best efforts.
The weather is still being kind, with comfortable water temperatures at competitions. Both air and water in Čehovice were 6°C. Plzeň’s organisers promise water below 4°C next week, which would finally allow the first performance grades to be earned.
Our standout results on Saturday were Petr Tomášek’s first place over one kilometre, Magda Zárubová’s win over 750 metres and Vlastík Zaoral Jr’s second place over 750 metres.
Excellent game goulash after the races gave us energy for the long journey home.
Racing continues this Saturday in Plzeň, where we defend the team cup. If you have time, come and help us win it again.
