On Saturday 5 February 2011, we organised the ninth Braník Ice winter swimming competition. Races over 100, 250, 500, 750 and 1,000 metres took place in sunshine but strong wind. The water was 2.8°C and the air 9.0°C.
There were 143 swimmers in total, comprising 110 men and 33 women. Veteran Czech cold-water swimmer Dr Ladislav Nicek, born in 1913, was among them.
