The Alfred Nikodem Memorial takes place, as usual, on 26 December at 11:00 at the northern tip of Slovanský Island. We are delighted that you would like to join its 70th anniversary edition.
The event is also open to swimmers who are not registered with the Czech Swimming Federation. If that applies to you, you must meet the following conditions:
- Be in good health. A doctor must certify your fitness for winter swimming using the standard form available HERE. Unregistered swimmers should tick “jednorázová prohlídka” (one-off examination). A general practitioner, as well as a sports doctor, may issue this certificate.
- Demonstrate that you can swim your chosen distance — 100 or 300 metres — in cold water.
- One option is to provide a video of your swim. It must clearly show when it took place, for example by showing that day’s newspaper; how long it lasted — five minutes for the 100-metre event or thirteen minutes for the 300 metres; and the water temperature, which must be below 6°C, usually shown on a thermometer or supported by publicly available water-temperature data. Upload the video to Úložna, YouTube or a similar service and send the link with your entry to the email address below.
- Alternatively, take a trial swim in the December Vltava with our member Otakar Zemek, telephone 792 349 539. This must always be arranged in advance during I. PKO training in Prague-Braník: Mondays and Wednesdays from 17:00 to 18:30, or Saturdays between 10:30 and 12:00. You can use our pleasantly heated clubhouse, less than 100 metres from the river. Another time may be arranged in exceptional cases.
- A trial swim outside Prague may also be possible with a cold-water swimmer known to us who can confirm your readiness. This must be arranged individually according to location with event director Tomáš Prokop, telephone 606 754 905.
- Pay the CZK 200 entry fee, in cash at the venue on the day.
YOUR ENTRY MUST INCLUDE:
- First name, surname, year of birth, place of residence, distance (100 or 300 m), a link to your trial swim — or details of when and with whom you completed it — AND A SCAN OF YOUR MEDICAL CERTIFICATE, NO MORE THAN ONE YEAR OLD.

- THE DEADLINE IS 21 DECEMBER. YOUR TRIAL SWIM MUST ALSO BE COMPLETED BY THEN.
ARRIVE AT THE VENUE, ŽOFÍN PALACE, BY APPROXIMATELY 9:30 AT THE LATEST AND CHECK IN IN PERSON WITH THE REGISTRATION TEAM. CHECK-IN CLOSES AT 10:00.
