On 20 September 2013, Braník hosted our eagerly awaited traditional “triathlon”: a WORKING PARTY to tidy the grounds, a roughly 900-metre CLUB TRIAL IN THE VLTAVA to test our fitness, and a closing CAMPFIRE with sausages, beer and singing to a guitar.
After swimming, we gathered briefly in the clubhouse to thank chairman Tomáš Prokop for ten years of professional yet friendly leadership. Our honorary member Vladimír Kulíček, commentator at the Alfred Nikodem Memorial for decades, then shared fascinating memories of Czech winter swimming pioneers and amusing stories from his broadcasting life.
The event ended with a friendly gathering around the campfire, chatting, drinking and eating until almost midnight. This successful evening also opened I. PKO’s 2013/2014 winter swimming season. May it be at least as good as the last!
See you by the water, which, to everyone’s delight, is slowly but surely cooling to our preferred operating temperature.
