The winter swimming breaststroke championships took place in Slavkov’s outdoor pool on Saturday 8 September 2011, with water at 16°C — conditions more reminiscent of summer swimming.
Racing continued at the same venue on Sunday with the relatively new “duathlon”.
The atmosphere was excellent. Yet the absence of cold water inevitably raised the question of whether it really made sense for almost 10% of the Winter Swimming Cup races to take place in water that was not remotely wintry.
