Following last year’s successful debut of the new sport of Kryathlon, the event named after outstanding endurance athlete and cold-water swimmer Václav Pátek returns. His memorial will again take place the day after Braník Ice, on Sunday 7 February at 11:00 in Velká Chuchle.
Twice as many competitors, some from abroad, will start this true winter triathlon: swimming in the Vltava, running and cross-country skiing. Most will tackle the full Kryathlon — a 250-metre swim, 2.5 km run and 3 km ski. The weather is on our side, so this year’s ski loop should be longer than last year’s.
Radmila Srbová and Petr Šlajs will defend their titles. As last year, both transition areas will be crucial, along with competitors’ ability to dress or change quickly before setting off on the next leg.
The start list already includes 24 members of I. plavecký klub otužilců Praha. Perhaps you will join them, or support us as a volunteer.
