Cold-Water Swimmers’ Baptism 2014

On Sunday 5 January 2014, the traditional swimmers’ baptism took place in the Vltava beside our Braník clubhouse. Conditions were similar for the third year running: no snow, water at 4.5°C and air at 4.0°C (2013: 6.2/6.0°C; 2012: 5.0/4.0°C). Around twenty people were baptised — the newcomers, visiting guests and one special “cold-water swimmer”, six-month-old Richard Haan Jr. Other longstanding members then renewed their baptism by tradition. Below are the names of the newly baptised swimmers and guests, a short video report and photos.

Newly baptised swimmers and guests:

Petr Kreuz, Jaroslav Moučka, Zuzana Pátková, Ivana Pejpalová, Bohuš Rerko, Josef Šafář, Michal Štengl, Václav Tesař, Petr Veselý, Petr Chovanec, Robert Soudek, Zuzana Soudková, Kamil Procházka, Tomáš Pilát, Zuzana Procházková, Pavlína Procházková, Alena Juřenová

+ around twenty members renewing their baptism and “a few other unidentified wandering cold-water swimmers”.
